Hamilton County named 21st Century Talent Region
Sec. Blair Milo reads the State of Indiana proclamation issued by Governor Holcomb declaring Hamilton County a 21st Century Talent Region.
Home to more than 330,000 Hoosiers, Hamilton County has been recognized as one of the fastest growing counties in the country, as a ‘Best Place to Live and Raise a Family,’ and now, as Indiana's fourth 21st Century Talent Region.
As a 21st Century Talent Region, Hamilton County continues to collaborate with leaders in and around Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield, and to develop the partnerships necessary to further grow the region.
Seeing the number of collaborative partnerships formed through the 21st Century Talent Regions initiative and the progress communities have made toward increasing educational attainment, raising household income and growing population in 2019 has been incredible, and the Indiana Office of Career Connections and Talent looks forward to another amazing year filled with opportunity and growth.

Office of Technology to offer SEAL program
The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) has accomplished a big milestone by becoming the first state agency to be certified to offer a State Earn and Learn (SEAL) program.
IOT is partnering with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana to give working-age adults the opportunity to earn certain information technology credentials while participating in paid on-the-job training.
“It’s about building a pipeline for Hoosiers to fill the skill gaps of the next decade,” according to State of Indiana Chief Technology Officer Joseph Cudby. “We at IOT are providing opportunities for hard-working individuals to build valuable skills, contribute to the common good of fellow Hoosiers, and set themselves up to continue working for state government or taking their in-demand skills to the private sector.”

Indiana Career and Technical Education Awards for Excellence
Final selections are being made next month for the 2019-20 Indiana Career and Technical Education Awards for Excellence!
The Indiana Awards for Excellence program highlights the outstanding achievements of CTE students, partners, programs, and career advisement programs around the state that exemplify the ideal qualities of Career and Technical Education.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares youth and adults for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. The mission of CTE in Indiana is to ensure an education system of high quality and equity for the academic achievement and career preparation of all Indiana students.
Students in Indiana’s secondary CTE programs gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for success in postsecondary education and economically viable career opportunities. CTE recognizes that classroom learning provides only part of the content knowledge and skills development students need for success in college, career, and life.
The 2019-20 Awards for Excellence ceremony will be held on February 18, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Government Center Auditorium in Indianapolis.
Nominations can be submitted by each Indiana secondary CTE District and eligible Indiana postsecondary institution providing CTE programs. Nominations are accepted through Dec 31, 2019 and can be submitted here. Please contact Robert Kneberg with any questions.
