There’s an African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
As Indiana works to fill more than 1 million jobs during the next decade, attracting, developing and connecting talent for a 21st-century workforce has never been more crucial for growing Hoosier prosperity.
Our ability to meet this opportunity relies squarely on our ability to go together.
Dive deeper into Secretary Milo's viewpoint piece explaining how working together to build a 21st Century workforce is fueling innovation, diversity and talent in the Hoosier state.
Learn More Indiana kicks off College GO! campaign
August kicks off Learn More Indiana’s annual College GO! campaign. College GO! is dedicated to helping Hoosiers of all ages find the right post-secondary fit by providing tools and resources, like the school finder tool, to help them research schools and visit college campuses.
As a part of College GO!, Indiana will hold its annual College Application Week September 23 – 27.
College Application week is part of a national initiative to get more students – especially low-income and first-generation students – to apply to college.
Learn more about College Application Week here, and email Shannon Elward at selward@che.in.gov to learn more and get involved.
As a precursor to College Application Week, Indiana is participating in national #WhyApply day on September 20. #WhyApply day is a social media movement to uplift and motivate students who are applying to colleges.
To participate, post a selfie on social media and share your reasons for pursuing post-secondary education. There’s a free printout you can use here, and don’t forget to use #WhyApply and tag Learn More Indiana in your post!
Survey on support materials for professional women
The following is a letter from Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology requesting feedback about existing support materials for professional women. If you meet the criteria outlined below, please consider participating via the included survey link.
Dear Professional,
We are currently exploring the possibility of developing full-service support materials for professional women at all points and phases of their working lives. This study is intended to determine what support you use, would like, and may find helpful to you. Then we will be able to work toward development of these resources and then making them available not only locally, but for professionals throughout the United States.
We represent a subset of individuals currently in academia, but with extensive experience in industry, and government positions for 26 and 15 years each. The purpose of our committee is to further study professional women of all types. We recognized shortcomings in available support regardless of financial, family, or educational background to those working in professional positions.
Please take a few minutes to provide us with important information to further our understanding of you the working professional. There is no identifying information collected (unless you volunteer for an interview at a later date), we do collect demographics only to study differences in responses based on gender, age, experiences.
The survey can be found at https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5t0tVpLiUbrKb7n
If you have any questions, feel free to contact our researchers:
