Northeast Indiana becomes state's first designated 21st Century Talent Region
On June 20, Governor Eric J. Holcomb joined state and local leaders to announce the northeast Indiana region as the state’s first 21st Century Talent Region, a statewide designation awarded to Indiana communities focused on working collaboratively to attract, develop and connect talent.
In partnership with the Office of Career Connections and Talent, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and with technical assistance from CivicLab, the 21st Century Talent Region initiative encourages local governments, businesses, educational institutions, nonprofits, and economic and workforce development partners to create and implement a plan to increase educational attainment, raise household income and grow the population in a region.
By taking a comprehensive, systems approach, participating regions will identify strategic priorities and projects aimed at helping its communities create a better quality of place, develop and skill up its workforce, and connect talented Hoosiers with businesses seeking to fill high-demand, high-wage jobs.

Building a more global Indiana
For decades, Indiana has been at the forefront of international education, working to connect Indiana residents with opportunities to become more globally connected by making quality world language instruction and global skills training available, equitable, and affordable to all Hoosiers.
The Indiana Language Roadmap serves as a guide to ensuring individuals of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and regions of Indiana have equal access to these opportunities by strengthening the educational pipeline and growing global Indiana through economic and workforce development.
By building more purposeful educational pipelines, Indiana is preparing Hoosiers for increasingly diverse and globally-connected career opportunities by teaching global engagement, communication along cultures, and how to work alongside diverse groups of people.

Introducing Ben Traverso
Please welcome Ben Traverso to the Career Connections and Talent team as our summer intern!
Ben comes to us as a junior from Butler University, where he is working toward his bachelor's degree in political science and history.
Get to know Ben through our quick Q&A below:
Q: What drew you to interning with CCT?
A: I have always been interested in public service and wanted to have an internship that not only challenged me but also allowed me to have a positive impact on the city of Indianapolis and the state in general.
Q: What have you learned from your internship experience so far?
A: How intertwined the entire state is when it comes to work and education, as it became clear to me that many Hoosiers commute across the state to get to work or school.
Q: When you're not working or studying, how do you spend your free time?
A: I love to run, golf, play basketball, and read just about anything that I can get my hands on, especially the New York Times. But none of these hobbies approach my love for my two dogs Cocoa and Sugar, who are approaching the ripe age of 14.
