IUPUI Survey on Drug Patterns in Black Communities

Survey

Public Advocates in Community re-Entry (PACE) has partnered with IUPUI, and many others, for the Harm Reduction Initiative, which seeks to supply education and assist in implementing Harm Reduction Principles and Practices in BIPOC neighborhoods. Currently they are looking for Black/African American individuals to participate in a 10-minute survey in order to understand drug patterns in Black/African American communities. If interested, clients can also participate in a 60-minute interview and receive a $25 gift card for their participation. For more information, please contact them at: (317)-278-1328 or rlawren@iu.edu. Follow this link to complete the survey.

HHS Funds SAMHSA Block Grants

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will be distributing $3 billion in American Rescue Plan funding through the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant (MHBG) Program and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant Program (SABG). Each program will disperse $1.5 billion to states and territories. This increase in funding is a result of community needs for mental health and substance use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Indiana received nearly $25.6 in MHGB supplemental awards and more than $26.1 in SABG supplemental awards. Funding allocation tables are available at the following links: MHGB Supplemental Awards  and SABG Supplemental Awards. Much of the funding went to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) throughout Indiana and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. Specific funding allocation details for the state are available here
