Shelby County, IN - This afternoon, at 2:00, Indiana State Troopers were requested to assist the Shelby County Sheriff's Office with a serious crash in the eastbound lanes of I-74 near the 112 mile marker. Preliminary reports indicated a charter bus with several passengers was involved. Once first responders arrived they located an adult male unconscious and unresponsive inside a van that apparently had struck the back of the bus. Nobody on the bus was seriously injured, however the man driving the van was pronounced deceased on the scene. Nine of the passengers on the bus chose to go to the hospital for a check-out, none of those injuries were serious.

Preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists determined 52 year old Jason Huber of Boggstown Indiana, was driving a Dodge van eastbound on I-74. Traffic had stopped for unknown reasons in the area and Mr. Huber crashed into the back of the stopped bus. The eastbound lanes of I-74 were closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and the wrecked vehicles were removed.

Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Inspectors were on scene to assist with the investigation, along with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Indiana Department of Transportation, Shelby County Coroner and the Shelbyville Fire Department.

The investigation into the circumstances of this crash is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time.
