Virginia Man Arrested for Dealing Cocaine
(New Castle, IN) A Virginia man was arrested after troopers from the Pendleton district located cocaine and other dealing paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near the 123 mile marker (New Castle Exit).
On September 29, 2023 at approximately 10:00 am, Master Trooper Barry Bischoff was conducting a directed enforcement patol on Interstate 70 when he noticed a grey Honda passenger car in excess of the posted speed limit. Trooper Bischoff initiated a traffic traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke to the driver. During his interaction with the driver, Trooper Bischoff noticed signs of criminal activity and contacted Trooper Tom Ratliff and his K-9 partner Tora to assist. After Trooper Ratliff and K-9 Tora arrived, K-9 Tora performed an open air sniff of the vehicle. Tora gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted. The troopers located approximately 3 grams of cocaine, marijuana, and other drug dealing paraphernalia in the vehicle. Along with the drugs, troopers found a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun under the driver's seat.
The driver, identified as Kai Lord Victory Hakim, 22, of Alexandria, VA, was arrested and preliminarily charged with:
- Dealing a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a Level 5 Felony.
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Level 6 Felony.
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Dangerous Person with a Prior, a Level 6 Felony.
- Possession of Marijuana, a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor.
During a criminal check on Kai Lord Victory Hakim, it was determined that he was also wanted on an active warrant with full extradition out of the State of Virgina for Dealing a Schedule II Controlled Substance and prior Unlawful Possession of a Fiream.
Hakim was transported to the Henry County Jail without further incident.
All crimes mentioned above are alleged and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
