Indiana State Police First Sergeant Edward Olibo 
Promoted to Lieutenant

The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police Douglas G. Carter has announced the promotion of First Sergeant Edward Olibo to the rank of Lieutenant.   Lieutenant Olibo will serve as the Commander of the Information Technology and Firearms Section.

Olibo, who is originally from Franklin, Indiana, is a 1987 graduate of Franklin Community High School and earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Vincennes University in 1989. Beginning in October 1990, Olibo started his law enforcement career with the Columbus Police Department. During his time as a patrol officer, he also served on the SWAT team and as a field training officer until his selection to the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1999.

On December 12, 1999, Olibo graduated from the 58th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Lafayette before being transferred to the Seymour Post where he patrolled Bartholomew and Jackson counties.

Olibo served as a counselor in 2004 and 2007 for the 64th and 67th Indiana State Police Recruit Academies. From 2005 to 2013, Olibo served on the Executive Protection Section detail. In 2013, he was reassigned to Human Resources where he served until 2014 and later transferred to the Versailles Post where he patrolled Bartholomew and Jackson counties. He also served as the Criminal Justice Data Division District Technology Liaison.

Outside of his Indiana State Police duties, Olibo serves on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board of Ivy Tech and also is a guest lecturer and professional development contributor at Franklin College. He also serves as an advisor for his church security team.

Olibo and his wife, Emily, reside in Franklin, Indiana. Together they have six adult children and one granddaughter.
