(Indianapolis, IN)-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter, has announced the promotion of Captain Bryan Harper to the rank of Major. Major Harper will serve as the Special Investigations Division Commander, to oversee the various components therein to include the Special Investigations Section, the Drug Enforcement Section, Organized Crime, Auto Theft and the Asset Forfeiture Unit.
Harper, who is originally from Amboy, Indiana, is a 1989 graduate of Oak Hill High School. In 1995, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, in 2012 he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and in 2014 a Master’s Degree all from Indiana State University. On June 13, 1999, he graduated from the 57th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post on the Toll Road, where he served for seven years.
In 2006, Harper was promoted to Detective at the Lafayette Post, where he was later promoted to Detective Sergeant and District Investigative Commander.
In 2015, Harper was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and he served as the Assistant Director of the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center and in 2020 he was promoted to the rank of Captain where he served as the Office of Intelligence and Investigative Technology Commander. During his career, Harper has served the Indiana State Police as a Field Training Officer.
Harper is a resident of Tippecanoe County.
