ISP Family,

Sixty-four years ago on this date we lost Trooper Robert J. Garrison.

Garrison

Trooper Robert Garrison was killed in a three-vehicle accident while relaying canine remains to the Indianapolis Lab to be tested for rabies after having bitten a child in Fort Wayne, IN.

He was westbound on State Road 67 at the intersection of CR 700 West, two miles east of Daleville, in Delaware County, when he swerved to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle making a left-hand turn into a filling station.

His squad car struck that vehicle making a left-hand turn in front of him and was broadsided by a truck, killing him instantly from a skull fracture.

Trooper Garrison, from Montpelier, had served with the Indiana State Police for over four years and was assigned to the Redkey Post. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and served as a military policeman.

Trooper Garrison was survived by his expectant wife, son, daughter, parents, four brothers and seven sisters.

We will always remember, forever honor, and respect those that serve in their memory!
