Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

Bunker Hill – A recent traffic stop by Indiana State Police Trooper James Wilkison led to the arrests of Richard Egan, 27, Indianapolis, IN, and Dylan Whitlow, 23, Greenwood, IN. Both were incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face criminal charges for dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana. Egan faces additional charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sunday, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Wilkison initiated a traffic stop, on a Honda Civic, on U.S. 31 near State Road 218 for not having its taillights illuminated.

During the traffic stop, Egan was the driver. While Wilkison was speaking to Egan, he allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

During a subsequent search of the Honda, officers allegedly found psilocybin mushrooms, approximately two pounds of marijuana, 450 containers of suspected THC wax, 72 wrapped marijuana edibles, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $ 15,000 in United States currency.

Wilkison was with this case by Trooper Dustin Powers and Trooper Andrew Baldwin.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
