Elkhart County- Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter recently announced the promotion of Senior Trooper O’Bryan Winfield to the rank of sergeant to serve as an Information Technology Systems Administrator in the Indiana State Police Criminal Justice Data Division. Sgt. Winfield earned this promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process. In this new role he will conduct system audits of Department programs, identify, and recommend program needs, and develop solutions to designated Department specific crime statistic requests and concerns.
Winfield graduated from East Chicago Central High School in 2003. He went on to attend Indiana State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in 2008. Sgt. Winfield graduated from the Indiana State Police 69th Recruit Academy in December of 2008 where he was assigned to the Toll Road Post.
During his 13-year tenure, Winfield has served on the Photogrammetry Team, been a Background Investigator, Recruiting Liaison, a Field Training Officer, and been certified as a Level III Motor Carrier Inspector. Winfield also represented the Indiana State Police in the 2017 World Police and Fire Olympics, earning a gold medal in basketball.
Winfield lives in Lake County with his family.
