Indiana State Police Sergeant Dennis Wade
Promoted to First Sergeant

(Indianapolis, IN)-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter, has announced the promotion of Sergeant Dennis Wade to the rank of First Sergeant.  First Sergeant Wade will serve as the K-9 Program Coordinator within the Special Operation Section and will oversee all responsibilities of the Department's K-9 program.

Wade, who is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, is a 1983 graduate of Ben Davis High School, and he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1986 to 1992.  While on active duty he received his Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice.  On December 25, 1995, he graduated from the 53rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper.  He was assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Lafayette, where he served for one year before transferring to the Putnamville Post where he served for two years.  Wade then transferred into the Drug Enforcement Section for the next ten years.

In 2012, Wade was promoted to the rank of Sergeant to serve in the Special Operations Section as the K-9 Training Coordinator.  During his career, Wade has served the Indiana State Police in the following disciplines:  Field Training Officer, Marijuana Eradication Coordinator for the Putnamville Post, K-9 Handler for the Drug Enforcement Section and became the first K-9 trainer for the Indiana State Police.

Wade and his wife are residents of Hendricks County.
