Indianapolis, IN - Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has announced the promotion of Trooper Chris Hanson to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Hanson will serve as a supervisor for the Indianapolis District. 

Trooper Hanson is a native of Indianapolis and a 2010 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. After high school Hanson attended Marian University where he was a successful athlete in both track and cross country. He graduated from Marian in 2015 with degree in Exercise Science. Chris was selected to attend the 76th Indiana State Police Academy and successfully completed in 2016. His first patrol assignment was to the Indianapolis District where he patrolled the east side of Indianapolis. During his career Chris has served as a crash reconstructionist, a member of the mobile field force, a hostage crisis negotiator, a field training officer and on the Indiana State Police Honor Guard.

In August, 2020, Hanson was promoted to Detective, where he served as an investigator for the Indianapolis District until his recent promotion to Sergeant.

In his new role, Sergeant Hanson will mentor and supervise a squad of Troopers in the Indianapolis District. 

Detective Hanson resides in Hancock County with his wife and son.
