Indianapolis, IN - Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter has announced the promotion of Trooper Jonathan Haugh to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Haugh achieved the rank through a competitive promotion process including a written test, oral interview and overall review of job performance. 

Sergeant Haugh is a native of Trafalgar Indiana and a 2009 graduate of Indian Creek High School. After high school he attended Indiana State University and graduated in 2012. Prior to his law enforcement career Jonathan worked for Lakeview Ministries at Camp Lakeview as a Counselor and Ministry Impact Worker. He was selected to attend the 73rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was sworn in as a Trooper in May, 2014. Haugh's first duty assignment was to the Indianapolis District where he patrolled Marion and Shelby County.

In 2017 Haugh was joined in his duties by his canine partner Smitty, since the inception of their partnership Haugh and Smitty have seized over 275 pounds of illegal narcotics, assisted in the apprehension of suspects resulting in the over 1500 criminal charges. Smitty has assisted with over 2300 law enforcement incidents so far in his career.  Haugh is also been a member of the Honor Guard, Mobile Field Force and a field training officer. 

In his new position, Sergeant Haugh will mentor and supervise a squad of troopers assigned to the Indianapolis Post.
