Indianapolis- On Thursday December 5, 2019, Indiana State Police Trooper Brett Adair graduated from the Indiana State Police K-9 Training School. Trooper Adair was joined by his new K-9 partner, “Zoia” at the ceremony in Indianapolis held at the Indiana State Police Museum.
Adair and Zoia worked for twelve weeks learning skills in tracking, building searches, obedience, handler protection, and drug recognition.
Zoia is a female Dutch Shepherd the Indiana State Police purchased from F.M. K9 located in Berrien Center, MI. The K-9’s come to the State Police untrained and then go through the training process taught by Master Trainers Sergeant Dennis Wade, Master Trooper Kevin Waters, and K-9 Trainer Master Trooper Chris Richey. Zoia is from Poland and is the first Dutch Shepherd to be used by the Indiana State Police.
Adair has been a member of the Indiana State Police for four years. He lives in St. Joseph County and patrols the Indiana Toll Road primarily in LaPorte, St. Joseph, and Elkhart Counties.
