ISP Captain Graduates from FBI National Academy

On Friday, June 7, 2019, Indiana State Police Captain Anthony Scott graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The 276th Session of the National Academy began April 1st, 2019 and concluded with a ceremony this past Friday.  Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agency.  The class consisted of 256 law enforcement officers from 49 states, the District of Columbia, 35 different countries, and five military organizations.  On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

As a graduate, Captain Scott enters into a select group made up of less than one percent of the country’s law enforcement officers. Scott is a native of Rush County and a 1992 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He attended Cumberland College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1996.  Scott began his law enforcement career in 1996 after graduating from the 54th Indiana State Police Academy.

He was assigned to the Versailles Post and patrolled Decatur County until receiving a promotion to Detective in 2004. In 2011, he was promoted to First Sergeant to serve as the District Investigative Commander at the Versailles District and in 2014 he was promoted to Lieutenant to serve as Commander of the Versailles Post. In November of 2014 Scott was promoted to Captain where he has served as the Commander of Area IV of the Indiana State Police which includes the Versailles and Sellersburg Districts.

Captain Scott said, "The FBI National Academy was a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best minds in law enforcement.”

Captain Scott currently resides in Decatur County with his wife and two children.
