Indiana State Police, Indiana National Guard Conduct Marijuana Eradication Fly Overs

Greene County – Yesterday, Bloomington Troopers assigned to the Marijuana Eradication Team along with members of the Indiana National Guard Counter Drug Taskforce conducted routine spotting from National Guard helicopters. While over northwest Greene County, trained ISP spotters located 2 outdoor marijuana grows in Vicksburg.

ISP ground units were given coordinates, however local residents spotted the helicopter and began to leave the suspected houses. Due to the ground unit’s extended arrival, the helicopter was forced to land in an open field and the ISP Spotters were able to secure the houses. Residents were interviewed and were cooperative with investigators.

The marijuana grows were secured and transported as evidence.

No arrests have been made, however three separate investigations were launched and will be given to the Greene County Prosecutor for review.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
