                            Five New Troopers Arrive at the ISP Post at Lafayette

Lafayette-Five new troopers reported for duty Monday at the Lafayette Post.  They were five of 37 new troopers reporting to their districts of assignment following graduation from the 77th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy, which took place on Thursday, October 19th.

The probationary troopers completed 24 weeks of intense training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.  During the training period, the recruits received in excess of 900 hours of law enforcement training which included criminal law, emergency vehicle operations, traffic law as well as training in other facets of law enforcement including criminal investigation, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder and other general law enforcement related areas of instruction.

The newest members of the Lafayette State Police Post are: 

Trooper Michael M. Risley is a 2010 graduate of Shelbyville High School.  He originally went to Ivy Tech Community College in Franklin before transferring to IUPUI.  Risley will be working the north zone which includes White, Carroll, Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties.  He is currently looking for a location to move his family to the area.  

Trooper Daniel K. Organ is a graduate of Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School.  He attended Ivy Tech Community College and transferred to Indiana State University.  Organ resides in Montgomery County and will work the south zone which includes Bento, Warren, Fountain and Montgomery Counties.  

 Trooper Austin Keller is a graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School.  He entered the U. S. Army and spent four years in the service.  He will be working the south zone and lives in Montgomery County  

Trooper Corey E. Brown is from Hawesville, Kentucky.  He is a 2011 graduate of Hancock County High School in Kentucky.  Prior to entering the ISP Law Enforcement Academy, he worked as a Deputy Sheriff in the Hancock County Kentucky Sheriff’s Department.   Brown will be residing in the West Lafayette area and will be working the north zone. 

Trooper Daniel J. Connolly is from Fort Thomas, Kentucky and is a graduate of Newport Central Catholic High School in Newport.  He attended Indiana State University and will be working the north zone.  He will be living in the Tippecanoe County area. 

The new troopers will put their recruit academy training to work in the field as they begin 12 weeks of field training, where they will be paired with experienced troopers specially trained to serve as Field Training Officers.  Upon successful completion of the field training program, they will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol in their assigned zones.
