Build, Learn, Grow Program Updates
As COVID-19 health and safety guidelines change, it is time to reset how we think about our state’s ongoing recovery needs. As such, several Build, Learn, Grow initiatives will soon come to a close after being in place for a year. In order to provide all programs with ample time to plan and make necessary operational changes, here are more details on each change:

Waived CCDF Family Copays: Waived family copays will end April 30. Programs should resume payment collection the week of May 2. Read more in the full story below.

Onboarding Stipends & Waived Background Check Fees: Waived background check fees and onboarding stipends to help programs hire new staff will end April 30.

Build, Learn, Grow Scholarship Fund: Providers and families must sign up by March 31 to receive the scholarship through June 30. Read more in the full story below.

Stabilization Grants: Stabilization Grants offer programs grants covering up to five months of operating expenses to fortify their program. To date, more than 2,700 programs have been approved for awards totaling over $300 million. Round 2 grant applications will be accepted through April 15. Learn more.

Important Build, Learn, Grow Scholarship Reminder
Build, Learn, Grow scholarships are still available to cover up to 80% of a family’s child care tuition if at least one adult in the household works in an essential business. Please note: Providers and families must sign up by March 31 to receive the scholarship through June 30. Help families get started now, share the link below!

Support Families as Copays Resume
For the past year, the state has supported families by waiving their CCDF copays. Waived CCDF family copays will end April 30, and programs should resume payment collection the week of May 2. Copay amounts for applicable CCDF families can be found in the provider portal at www.hoosierchildcare.com.
Use this toolkit now to begin communicating the upcoming transition to families. If your program charges overages, we encourage you to use your program’s Stabilization Grant dollars to help temporarily waive the overages and help families transition back to making their payments. If families have experienced a change in their financial situation that would impact their copayment amounts, please encourage them to connect with their CCDF Policy Consultant.

As the Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning looks ahead to the next round of Build, Learn, Grow investments, we’d like to discuss these and gather your input at our upcoming provider town hall meetings. Help Families Apply for On My Way Pre-K
Families may now apply for On My Way Pre-K for the 2022-2023 school year. On My Way Pre-K awards grants to 4-year-olds from low-income families so they may have access to a high-quality pre-K the year before they begin kindergarten. Families who receive a grant may use the grant at any approved On My Way Pre-K program. Children who will be 4 years old by August 1, 2022 are eligible. If a family in your program may be interested or qualify, please have them visit www.onmywayprek.org and apply today.

Participate in the Indiana Early Childhood Induction Project
Whether you are new to the field and want someone to support you in your first year of teaching, or you have been in the early childhood field for several years and want to share your experience with others, INAEYC and the Indiana Early Childhood Higher Education Forum invites you to participate in the Indiana Early Childhood Induction Project.
This project bridges what you have learned in school and on the job. You will be linked to an early childhood mentor and higher education expert to participate in a community of practice and mentoring activities. This project is linked to the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® INDIANA Scholarship Program. A T.E.A.C.H. scholarship will be provided to both the Mentor and to the Mentee to advance their professional development!
