STEAM Day

Hands-On Learning Happens at STEAM Day

Visit us for STEAM Day on March 6, where your students will find engaging science, technology, engineering, art and math hands-on activities as they explore the Indiana State Museum.

Students also will find a special bonus in the Education Center for a design challenge that complements our Cardboard Engineering experience. Students will have a real-world challenge to solve using low cost/recycled materials.

STEAM Day is great for schools looking for interactive learning opportunities but who may be too large for a field trip workshop.

There is limited space so register early! Contact Krystle Mangan at 317.509.7679 or kmangan@indianamuseum.org to schedule a STEAM Day field trip.

Cost: $6 per student/$2 per chaperone, free for teachers.

Eco Science Fair

Students are invited to submit projects to the Eco-Science Fair on April 12. Students can research environmental issues including aquaculture, vermiculture, composting, social awareness, urban farming, alternative fuel and recycling programs in their schools and communities. There is no fee for submitting a project, and the event is free for K-12 students and teachers/chaperones to attend.

School Program

Mind if we invite ourselves over? Through our outreach programs, we join your students at your school to facilitate learning opportunities with hands-on activities. Learn more about our outreach programs, then contact Krystle Mangan at 317.509.7679 or kmangan@indianamuseum.org.

Educator Activity

Classrooms around the country will take time this month to share the story and impact of Martin Luther King, Jr. Much of his legacy continues on through social justice. This can be a challenging, but valuable topic for your classroom. In our Educator Activity of the Month, we share a variety of resources for social justice education. For additional discussion, suggest your high schoolers join us at the Indiana State Museum for Courageous Conversations. It's an evening program on Jan. 17 for high schoolers and adults to talk about contemporary community topics in a moderated discussion. Or, suggest your students join us on MLK Day; all open Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites locations will offer free admission (see details).
