On Friday, April 19, 2019 existing Lynda.com accounts will be transferred to LinkedIn Learning accounts. LinkedIn Learning will provide the same content as Lynda.com with a more personalized experience. After April 19, users will no longer be able to access Lynda.com. All learning activity and history will be automatically transferred to LinkedIn Learning. After the upgrade is complete, users will receive an email with instructions on activating their new LinkedIn Learning account.
After the upgrade, the iOS Lynda.com app will also cease to function. Users may download the LinkedIn Learning app via the Apple App Store for iOS or via Google Play for Android.
Free access will still be provided to Indiana librarians and library employees by the Indiana State Library. Courses over 30 minutes will be eligible for LEUs. Courses focusing on how to use computer software or other technology will be eligible for TLEUs.
Please contact Kara Cleveland of the Professional Development Office at the Indiana State Library with any questions about the transfer.

Earlier this month, the Monroe County Public Library launched its own podcast titled Think Library Presents: Your Friendly Neighborhood Librarians. The monthly podcast features librarians Erica Brown and Matt Neer.
This month, Brown and Neer explore forgotten and unknown women in history, learn how library music and movies are selected and face off in a mini VITAL Quiz Bowl moderated by VITAL's coordinator. Next month's podcast will feature an interview with local food pantry Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, focusing on a book club, A Readable Feast, that MCPL is hosting at the pantry. Segments on Earth Day and Earth Day mascots, National Bookmobile Day and DIY and upcycling will also be featured.
Those interested in submitting questions or appearing on the podcast should contact Mandy Hussey, communications and marketing manager at the Monroe County Public Library.

The Indiana primary election for municipal offices within certain cities and towns will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. For persons residing within cities and towns with offices up for election, now is the time to either register to vote or check voter registration status. The registration deadline is Monday, April 8, 2019, and there are several ways to register, including by mail, in-person or online by visiting the Indiana Voters website.
According to the 2019 Indiana Voter Information Guide, during the Primary Election, the major parties - Democrat and Republican - will nominate candidates for the following offices: mayor, city clerk or city clerk-treasurer, judge of city court, town council member, town clerk-treasurer and town court judge. In addition, some local public questions may be placed on the ballot in certain counties.
For primary elections in Indiana, voters are required to choose either a Democrat ballot or a Republican ballot. In some counties, it is possible that no candidates at all from one of the major parties have filed to be on the primary ballot. The party will select candidates for the November municipal election or will hold a nominating convention in accordance with deadlines listed in the 2019 Election Calendar Brochure.
More resources about the 2019 elections are provided through the Indiana Election Division. The Election Division has a toll-free Election Fraud and Accessibility Grievance Line; 866-IN1-VOTE (866-461-8683). Staff will be on hand to answer the calls from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. EDT on Primary Election Day and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on regular business days.
The Collaborative Summer Learning Program is offering one Indiana librarian the chance to attend the CSLP Annual Meeting in Indianapolis on Sept. 16-19, 2019, all expenses paid. Since the Indiana State Library's children's consultant serves on the CSLP board of directors, Indiana is permitted to invite a second attendee to the meeting while the consultant is serving on the board.
This is an excellent opportunity for a librarian working in an Indiana public library who is actively involved in summer reading planning at their own library to share their insights from the field. It’s also a good chance to network and to participate in a national volunteer organization.
Click here to read the full list of qualifications and requirements and to apply. Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2019. Click here for more information about the Annual Meeting.
Please contact Beth Yates, children's consultant at the Indiana State Library, with any questions.
