The Indiana State Library is currently seeking a librarian for its Indiana Young Readers Center (IYRC). The IYRC librarian will be the public services coordinator of events for school-aged children at the state library. This librarian will coordinate field trips with school groups, camps and other interested youth groups. They also curate the state library’s collection of materials by Indiana authors and about Indiana for children and young adults, and provide reference and research support for the Indiana Division as well as programming support for the children’s services coordinator. This position also acts as director of the Indiana Center for the Book. This position performs independently and reports to the Indiana Division supervisor and director of public services.

The Friends of the Frankfort Library are proud to present their 37th annual Fine Art Exhibition & Sale happening this Nov. 10 - 12 at the Frankfort Community Public Library.
"Reflections" is this year’s chosen theme and printmaking is the featured medium. Brenda Buckingham-Ehrmann and daughter Lauren Ehrmann are the featured artists and specialize in painting, ceramics and printmaking. They will demonstrate their printmaking skills on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Anna & Harlan Hubbard Gallery.
Photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, ceramics, glass work, weaving and fiber artwork will also be available for purchase. A portion of each sale goes to the Friends who support library programming.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Information School will be hosting their popular "Back in Circulation Again" conference next October and will be accepting proposals until Feb. 2, 2018. Topics may include, but are not limited to: e-reserves, stacks management, staff management, staff training, staff motivation, keeping up with technology, customer service, diversity issues and innovation. Last year's schedule can be viewed here. Circulation managers and staff from public and academic libraries all over the United States and Canada are encouraged to attend.
Submit a 200-250 word description of your proposed session to Anna Palmer by Feb. 2, 2018. Sessions at the conference will be one hour; 45 minutes of presentation, 15 minutes of discussion.
Proposals about unique practices that require 15 minutes or less of speaking time are eligible for placement on a panel.

The 5th annual Great Lakes Resource Sharing Conference (GLRSC) will take place on June 7-8, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, Ohio.
The conference is an opportunity for individuals working in resource sharing to trade information and network with other colleagues. GLRSC is currently accepting proposals through Jan. 12, 2018. Topics may include, but are not limited to: Resource sharing best practices, marketing services, purchase on demand and e-books. Visit the GLRSC website for more details. Accepted presenters will have the opportunity to publish a version of their conference presentation to the Journal of Interlibrary Loan, Document Delivery, & Electronic Reserves in a special issue, but will not be obligated to do so.

Bureau:
41.1 million was the estimated number of potential
trick-or-treaters aged five to 14 across the United States in 2015.
Of course, many other children, older than age 15 and younger than age five, also go trick-or-treating.
39,815 is the number of people employed by U.S.
manufacturing establishments that produced chocolate and cocoa products in
2015. This industry’s value of shipments totaled $17.2 billion, up from $16.0 billion in 2014.
$12.4 million is the value of U.S. imports of pumpkins in 2016.
$935.5 million
is
the dollar value of U.S. fresh
apples exported from the U.S. in 2016.

The Indiana State Library will host the annual Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair in downtown Indianapolis on Oct. 28, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the general public. This year’s theme is “Sacrificing and Shaping the Future,” commemorating the Centennial of the Great War and examining military resources and history.
Over 30 organizations and exhibitors will be in attendance. Visit the tables in the exhibition hall to collect information from genealogical and local history organizations and shop the commercial vendors.
Highly-acclaimed, internationally known speakers and genealogy consultants, Kathleen Brandt and Katherine R. Willson, will present.
