Fall season fun stats

fall

The leaves are changing and there’s a cool, crisp wind in the air. Happy Autumn! Enjoy these fun seasonal stats from the U.S. Census Bureau:

41.1 million was the estimated number of potential trick-or-treaters aged five to 14 across the United States in 2015. Of course, many other children, older than age 15 and younger than age five, also go trick-or-treating.

39,815 is the number of people employed by U.S. manufacturing establishments that produced chocolate and cocoa products in 2015. This industry’s value of shipments totaled $17.2 billion, up from $16.0 billion in 2014.

$12.4 million is the value of U.S. imports of pumpkins in 2016.

$935.5 million is the dollar value of U.S. fresh apples exported from the U.S. in 2016.

Casper, Wyoming, with an estimated population of 59,324, leads a list of spooky-sounding cities that includes Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; Tombstone, Arizona; Slaughter Beach, Delaware and Scarville, Iowa with a population of 71.

Finally, for a farmer's market or orchard to pick produce this season, search the Visit Indiana Agritourism webpage for the nearest locations.
