The Indiana Library Leadership Academy (InLLA) has scheduled two leadership webinars for the month of April.
On April 12, 2017 at 12 p.m., Connie Scott, director of the McMillen Library at Indiana Tech, will present Servant Leadership, a webinar that discuss servant leadership, which means you’re a ‘servant’
first. Servant Leaders focus on the needs of others, especially team
members and staff before your own needs.
On April 20, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., Michelle Bradley, manager of member engagement for Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS), will present Leadership vs. Management, a webinar dedicated to the differences between leadership and management.
Both webinars are eligible for one LEU each. For more information, click here.
The Tippecanoe County Public Library (TCPL) announces the retirement of
longtime employee Amy Paget. Paget's 25-year career at TCPL began in 1991 at the
Albert A. Wells Memorial Library. In 2004, Paget became the assistant county librarian. Additional responsibilities over the years included head of youth services and head of extension services.
“TCPL has greatly benefited from the breadth of skills, professional
expertise, and integrity Amy Paget brings to her work and our operations. Many
say Amy is a ‘jack of all trades,’ but she is a consummate professional who
really helped TCPL day-to-day operations flow smoothly,” said County Librarian Jos
N. Holman.
On her final day at work, Wednesday,
April 12, 2017, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the public is invited to share memories and
good wishes with Paget. This casual event occurs in the Friends of TCPL
Conference Room at the Downtown Library located at 627 South St., Lafayette, IN, 47901. Refreshments will be served.
To learn more about TCPL, visit their website or call (765) 429-0100.
On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, the Midwest
Pages to Prisoners Project and IUPUI Museum Studies Department will be hosting
a workshop titled “Pages to Prisons.” Coinciding with the exhibit “States of
Incarceration” at the Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) Central Branch, this workshop will discuss
how libraries can help those who are incarcerated. The topics of the
workshop will cover how libraries can organize book drives for people who are
incarcerated, navigating jail and library partnerships and how to
serve people coming out of prison.
The
workshop will be held in the Riley Meeting Room at the IndyPL Central Branch from
1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will earn 2 LEUs for
this workshop. Anyone interested can register by calling (317) 275-4807.
