Presidential portraits on display at the Indiana State Library

presedit2

Pop Art Presidents, a series of presidential portraits painted by artist Missy C. Adams, will be on display on the first floor of the Indiana State Library, in the exhibit hall, from now until Mar. 27, 2017.

"While this portrait series is about politicians, it is not political in focus," Adams said. Adams hopes to open a dialogue about the amazing, and sometimes unbelievable, lives of our presidents.

Influenced by the pop art era of the 1950s and 1960s, which included artists like Andy Warhol, Adams uses thickly textural paint strokes. The series, which features all 43 presidents, was originally completed in 2014, but has been updated to include the recent president-elect.

STEAM survey

ISLLogo

Library directors, please take a moment to complete this short survey from the Indiana State Library (ISL) on behalf of your library. The survey focuses on what libraries in the state are currently doing to promote or facilitate science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). The survey is open to any library in the state of Indiana. Responses will be used to create a resource list to facilitate information sharing and to gain feedback on current ISL professional development resources for STEAM services.
