S.R. 9 to close over U.S. 24 for bridge replacement

UPDATE: S.R. 9 to close August 14, overnight closures to begin on U.S. 24 August 19

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. – INDOT announces the closure of State Road 9 for bridge construction.

Starting on or after August 14, crews will be replacing the bridge over U.S. 24. Work on the project is expected to be complete by the end of November. During the closure, drivers should use the approved detour of State Road 5 and State Road 114, or seek an alternate route.

U.S. 24 will be closed beneath State Road 9 from approximately 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for bridge demolition work. These overnight closures will be ongoing for approximately five nights starting on or after August 19. Motorists will be able to use the ramps at the State Road 9 interchange to bypass the road closure.

All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change. INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.
