U.S. 30 to have reduced work zone speed limit

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a reduced speed limit of 35 mph for the work zone on U.S. 30 between the Illinois State Line and U.S. 41 beginning the evening of Wednesday, May 15 through the fall.

There is currently a concrete restoration project taking place through this area, with full depth patching and joint repairs. There is also a preventative maintenance bridge deck overlay being done on the Plum Creek bridge between Hart St and Moeller St. This work is expected to wrap up on or around May 24.

U.S. 30 will then have alternating lane closures between Castlewood Dr and St. John Rd beginning on or after Tuesday, May 28 through late October for a bridge replacement project over Dyer Ditch. The reduced speed limit will remain in place through the duration of this project.

INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and to follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
