Temporary closure planned on State Road 56 near Scottsburg

SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to close State Road 56 east of Scottsburg on or after Monday, April 1, to complete a culvert replacement in Scott County.

The closure along S.R. 56 will take place between State Road 203 and State Road 3 and is expected to take up to one day, weather permitting. Crews plan to begin work at 8 a.m. and complete work by approximately 5 p.m. the same evening. During the closure, westbound motorists should detour using S.R. 3 and U.S. 31, while eastbound motorists should detour using S.R. 203 to S.R. 256 to S.R. 3 and back to S.R. 56. 

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
