Ramp closures to change along eastbound I-94

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction Co Inc will change ramp closures on I-94 eastbound between State Road 912/Cline Ave and I-65 next week. This is part of phase 5 of the concrete restoration work occurring along this stretch of interstate.

The ramps from northbound and southbound State Road 912/Cline Ave to eastbound I-94 are expected to reopen on or around Monday, October 9. Once the ramps at the State Road 912 interchange open, the ramps from eastbound I-94 to Grant St and from northbound and southbound Grant St to eastbound I-94 will close.

The ramps from northbound and southbound Burr St to eastbound I-94 are expected to reopen on or around Thursday, October 12. Once the ramps at the Burr St interchange open, ramps from eastbound I-94 to State Road 53 and from northbound and southbound State Road 53 to eastbound I-94 will close.

Phase 5 will be ongoing through late October. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic configurations and overnight lane closures through this area while this project continues through late November. All schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.

INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.

I-94

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor RAM Construction Services is conducting high friction surface treatment on seven off-ramps along I-94 and I-65. While subject to change, the updated schedule is currently as follows:

  • Eastbound I-94 to northbound U.S. 41/Calumet Ave to close on/after Tuesday, October 10
  • Eastbound I-94/Southbound I-65 to Ridge Rd to close on/after Wednesday, October 11
  • Eastbound I-94 to northbound Kennedy Ave to close on/after Wednesday, October 11
  • Eastbound I-94 to northbound Burr St to close on/after Monday, October 16

This work is extremely weather dependent so the schedule is likely to change over the course of the project. Motorists are encouraged to watch for signage in the area of these ramps or check 511in.org for updated information.

This treatment is to decrease road slippage for motorists exiting the interstate. Each ramp is expected to close for 2-3 days while the treatment is applied and will reopen as soon as the material has cured.
