Tree maintenance work scheduled along U.S. 31 in Bartholomew and Jackson Counties

BARTHOLOMEW/JACKSON COUNTY, Ind.— Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to perform tree maintenance work along U.S. 31 between U.S. 50 in Seymour and East County Road 400 South near Columbus, beginning next week.

On or after Monday, October 2, crews will begin removing deceased, low hanging, and invasive trees along U.S. 31 to improve safety along the corridor by reducing the risk of fallen vegetation and potential refreeze on the roadway during winter weather events. Work is expected to last up to three weeks, weather permitting. Drivers can expect traffic control operations while work is in progress.

Seeding and the installation of pollinator habitats along the corridor will take place following the completion of tree maintenance work. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
