State Road 236 closing on or after June 12 near Russellville for resurfacing work
PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces State Road 236 will close on or after Monday, June 12 near Russellville for resurfacing work. It will be closed between S.R. 59 and U.S. 231 through early September, weather permitting.
The official detour follows S.R. 59 to U.S. 36 to U.S. 231.
This contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors South, LLC for $2.8 million. The entire contract is expected to be completed in June of 2024.
Crews will be constructing a functional Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) overlay. An HMA overlay is a combination of asphalt cement and aggregate placed over aging pavements as a pavement preservation treatment. The liquid asphalt binds the rocks together in a strong but flexible structure.
