Emergency road closure for State Road 56 for railroad crossing repair

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces an emergency road closure for State Road 56 in Hazleton.

Beginning on or around Tuesday, May 30, crews will close State Road 56 in Hazleton between Main street and Ohio street. This closure is for an emergency railroad crossing repair. The closure is expected to take four days to complete, depending on the weather.

The official detour for this emergency closure is U.S. 41 to State Road 64 to State Road 65. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.
