Upcoming Work on U.S. 40 and S.R. 103 in Lewisville

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP announces work on U.S. 40 and S.R. 103 in Lewisville.

Beginning on or after Monday, April 24, crews will close the outside lanes of U.S. 40 in both directions between County Road S. 100 E. and County Road S. 200 E. for a bridge replacement project. This closure will allow crews to strengthen the shoulder of the bridge over Flatrock River. The two center lanes will be open to traffic.

In early May, the inside lanes of U.S. 40 over Flatrock River will be closed for median paving. The outside lanes will be open to traffic. In late May, all traffic on U.S. 40 will be moved to the two westbound lanes. This will allow one lane for eastbound and westbound traffic. In late August, all traffic on U.S. 40 will be moved to the two eastbound lanes. This will allow one lane for eastbound and westbound traffic.

Beginning on or after Wednesday, April 26, crews will start the process to reconstruct U.S. 40. Accommodations will be made for access to U.S. 40 for local traffic and emergency vehicles. There will be "No Parking" signage posted along U.S. 40. Crews will restrict access on the north side of the intersection to and from U.S. 40 and S.R. 103 later this year.

There will be work on S.R. 103 for reconstruction of roadway and storm sewer and installation of curbs, sidewalks, curb ramps and more. There will be a detour for this work that is expected to begin in early 2024. The detour will go from U.S. 40 to S.R. 3 to S.R. 38 to S.R. 103.

This project is expected to be complete late summer 2024, weather depending.

INDOT encourages drivers to consider worker safety by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.
