State Road 267 restrictions starting on or after April 9 at I-65 interchange near Whitestown
BOONE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces restrictions at the State Road 267 and I-65 Interchange starting on or after Sunday, April 9. Various lanes of S.R. 267 will be restricted, but at least one lane in both directions will be operational until late June, for the remaining asphalt paving and pavement striping work.
This contract also involves the County Road 550 and I-65 interchange, which is expected to be opened to the public after the end of June, weather permitting. INDOT plans to host a ribbon cutting to honor both of the interchanges in the near future.
This project was awarded to E&B Paving, Inc. for $62.9 million. Both interchanges will be Diverging Diamond Interchanges, (DDI). A DDI is a type of interchange in which the two directions of traffic on a non-highway road cross to the opposite side on both sides of a bridge. It requires traffic on the highway overpass to briefly and safely drive on the opposite side of the road from what is customary. When entering the DDI, drivers cross over to the left side of the bridge, guided by signals, signs and pavement markings. DDIs are designed to be safer, more efficient and more cost effective than traditional diamond interchanges.
INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
