BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.— Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction plans to continue concrete patching this week through early November at the S.R. 46 interchange at I-65 in Columbus as part of the ongoing added travel lanes project. Initial restrictions began Sunday. Additional closures are scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

  • Thursday, October 27 to Sunday, October 30: I-65 NB to S.R. 46 WB right lane closed, I-65 NB to S.R. 46 EB (lane up to split) closed (access to S.R. 46 EB open), S.R. 46 WB to I-65 SB right lane closed
  • Sunday, October 30 to Tuesday, November 1: S.R. 46 WB to I-65 NB ramp closed (detour follows S.R. 46 EB to Carlos Folger Rd. to C.R. 325 W. to S.R. 46 EB to I-65 NB), S.R. 46 EB to I-65 NB right lane closed
  • Tuesday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 2: S.R. 46 EB to I-65 NB left lane closed, S.R. 46 EB to I-65 SB right lane closed (access to I-65 SB open)

Patching work will affect signal functionality at the interchange. Signals will be placed on timers rather than utilizing in-pavement loop sensors. Delays may be possible.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
