Concrete restoration and bridge work continues on I-65

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Rieth-Riley Construction Co. will implement ramp closures along the I-65 corridor over the next two weeks.

The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change but is currently as follows:

  • The ramp from eastbound U.S. 30 to northbound I-65 will be closed for approximately two weeks after 6 p.m. Friday, October 21.
  • The ramp from eastbound 61st Ave to northbound I-65 will be closed for approximately two weeks after 6 p.m. Friday, October 21.
  • The ramp from northbound I-65 to 61st Ave will be closed after 8 p.m. on Friday, October 21 and is expected to reopen in the morning on Monday, October 24.
  • The ramp from Ridge Rd to northbound I-65 will be closed for approximately 10 days starting on or after Tuesday, October 25.

I-65 continues to have three lanes of travel in each direction during daytime hours with lane shifts in place. Overnight lane closures will be utilized to set up, modify and remove the lane shifts through this work zone. Motorists should be prepared for overnight lane closures and changing traffic patterns in the area through fall 2022.

This $25.59 million contract includes concrete pavement restoration on I-65 from U.S. 30 to I-80/94, as well as bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance projects on I-65 at 53rd Ave and 37th Ave/Ridge Rd. Construction will take place in 2022 and 2023, with work this year wrapping up in November.

INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
