INDOT to host public information meeting October 18 for sight distance improvement project on S.R. 258
Des. 1298633 Doors open at 5:30 p.m., presentation at 6 p.m. at Cortland Elementary School
JACKSON COUNTY, Ind.— In partnership with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly Inc., the Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting for a sight distance improvement project on S.R. 258 in Jackson County. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, at Cortland Elementary School (6687 N. C.R. 400 E. Seymour, IN) and will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide feedback.
As proposed, the $3.5 million project aims to improve safety by lowering the vertical profile of S.R. 258 west of Seymour. Sight distance will be improved near the intersection of C.R. 100 E., with a reduction of the maximum grade from approximately 11.5 percent to 7.5 percent, eliminating the current "double dip" at this location. The contract is scheduled to let to contractors next fall, with construction to follow. A full closure of S.R. 258 is expected during the project. An official detour will be posted.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public time to view displays and interact with the project team. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Project information will also be posted on the INDOT Seymour District webpage and can be viewed any time.
Questions and comments may be submitted in-person at the information meeting or via email to Dominick Romano (dromano@cmtengr.com) with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly Inc.
