WARREN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces updates on the ongoing road rehabilitation work on State Road 26. S.R. 26 is currently closed between U.S. 41 and S.R. 55, near Pine Village. Right now, construction is happening in phases. Phase One involves S.R. 26 between U.S. 41 and Meridian Line Rd. That section is expected to reopen after the end of September, weather permitting. Phase Two involves S.R. 26 between S.R. 55 and Rainsville Rd. In Phase Two, crews are resurfacing, widening the road, and replacing culverts along the road. This work will also improve truck turning radii at the S.R. 26 and S.R. 55 south junction within the town of Pine Village. Phase Two is expected to be complete after the end of October, weather permitting.

The official detour for S.R 26 utilizes S.R. 55 to S.R. 352 to U.S. 41 and back to S.R. 26. Beginning on or after Friday, August 26th, the detour route will temporarily change for westbound traffic, due to railroad work on U.S. 41. For at least one week, the official detour will follow S.R. 55 to S.R. 352 to S.R. 26.

Milestone Contractors L.P. was awarded the $18.1 million contract. The project will resurface and widen the lanes to 12’, replace inadequate drainage culverts along this stretch of S.R. 26.

INDOT appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of the community and the traveling public as crews work to make these necessary improvements.
