US 52/Teal Road work begins in early April in Lafayette
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the U.S. 52/Teal Road project is scheduled to begin on or after Monday, April 4 The contractor will be restricting traffic to one 10’ lane in each direction.
The U.S. 52/Teal Road reconstruction project is approximately three miles in length. The western end of the project will start just west of Old Romney Road on State Road 25 (locally known as West Teal), going east to Old U.S. 231, proceeding north on Old U.S. 231 to the 4th Street/ Poland Hill Road intersection, and continuing east on U.S. 52/Teal Road terminating between Brothers Drive and South 30th Street, all located in Lafayette.
The project will partially reconstruct Teal Road along with other improvements such as storm sewers and new or reconstructed sidewalks and curbs where necessary. Also improved turning movements at the intersecting roadways at Old U.S. 231, Elston Road, Crestview Place, Edgelea Drive, and 26th Street along with improving the access and exit to Teal Road. The intersection of 4th Street/Poland Hill Road and U.S. 52 will be improved by removing the splitter islands, adjusting the alignment, and placement of a new storm sewer at the intersection.
Rieth Riley Construction was awarded this $15.6 million contract. This project is scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2024.
