INDOT reminds drivers of temporary traffic pattern on I-69

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation reminds motorists of temporary driving patterns on I-69 at S.R. 14/Illinois Road because of an ongoing interchange modification project at Exit 305.

Because of the work, the right lane in both directions of I-69 is currently set up to be an Exit Only Lane. The middle and left lanes shift toward the median and continue as two lanes for I-69.

INDOT is currently seeing an issue with traffic staying in the right lane and switching lanes last minute, realizing the right lane is only for exiting the interstate. There have been a few accidents and some close calls in the area because of the dangerous lane changing.

The current traffic setup is expected to be in place into the beginning of September. At that time traffic flow is expected to return to normal.

INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free when driving in and around all work zones.
