I-65 southbound to have new traffic configuration Sept 1
LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces overnight lane closures for I-65 southbound between mile marker 258 and 254 from approximately 9 p.m. Monday, August 31 to 4 a.m. Tuesday, September 1. This work is to construct a new traffic configuration in the crossover section.
Starting in the morning on Tuesday, the work zone and open lanes of traffic on I-65 southbound will be flipped from their current setup. The work zone will be in the southbound right lane and shoulder and traffic will have access to the two left lanes. Southbound I-65 will also continue to have one lane of traffic in the northbound counter-flow lane. Mainline work and restrictions are expected to be completed in mid-October, 2020.
Meanwhile, the work on southbound I-65 at U.S. 30 is expected to be completed on Monday, August 31. The ramp from westbound U.S. 30 to southbound I-65 will open at that time.

Ongoing work continues in six locations on I-65 for bridge deck overlays between Ridge Rd and U.S. 30 with $8 million being invested. This work began in April and will wrap up by the end of November. A minimum of two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained during daylight hours throughout the duration of the work.
