MEDIA ADVISORY: Groundbreaking planned for Heavy Haul Route in Jeffersonville

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.— A groundbreaking ceremony will take place Friday, November 1, in Jeffersonville, to mark the start of construction on the latest segment of the Heavy Haul Transportation Corridor, which will provide a continuous route for heavy haul vehicles between River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana at Jeffersonville via S.R. 265 and Old Salem Road.

The new $14.5 million, two lane roadway will be designed to Heavy Haul standards to withstand vehicle weights up to 134,000 pounds. A new bridge will also be constructed over Lentzier Creek as part of the project. The route is expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2021.
