Road Closure on U.S. 6 in Brimfield as
Bridge Realignment Continues
Detour
will be S.R. 9 to S.R. 8 to S.R. 3
NOBLE COUNTY – The Indiana
Department of Transportation announces that U.S. 6 in the community of
Brimfield, located in Noble County, is scheduled to close on or after Monday, April 30, weather permitting.
The road will be closed between
S.R. 9 (south junction) and C.R. N 175 E to allow contractors to tie in the newly aligned
road with the new bridge. U.S.
6 will be closed for up to 90 days to allow for the work. The official state
detour will be S.R. 9 to S.R. 8 to S.R. 3.
The new bridge has been built 100 feet west
of the existing location, which has allowed contractors to keep U.S. 6 open
throughout most of the work. The work eliminates access to U.S. 6 from C.R. 100
E, Railroad Street and Albion Street.
Work on the bridge is expected to be
completed by late 2018, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Primco
for $5.1 million.
