DEKALB AND NOBLE COUNTIES – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces signal improvements along U.S. 6 in DeKalb and Noble counties. Beginning on or after Monday, March 19, INDOT contractor, Shambaugh & Son, is scheduled to begin working on several locations.

The project consists of installing new signal heads, cabinets and other upgrades, as well as the installation of flashing yellow arrows (FYA) on left-turn signals at specific intersections. Motorists should expect to encounter temporary daytime lane restrictions in both locations. Some overnight work may be needed.

Intersections in DeKalb County receiving new FYA signals include:

  • U.S. 6 at I-69, northbound ramp
  • U.S. 6 at I-69, southbound ramp

Intersections in Noble County receiving new FYA signals include:

  • U.S. 6 at Progress Drive (west junction)
  • U.S. 6 at Fairview Boulevard
  • U.S. 6 at Riley Street
  • U.S. 6 at S.R. 3/Goodwin Place/Lima Road (east junction)
  • U.S. 6 at Sawyer Road/C.R. 660 E
  • U.S. 6 at S.R. 9 (east junction)
  • U.S. 6 at U.S. 33/S.R. 5

FYA have been shown to improve traffic flow and reduce waiting times at signals. More information about the flashing yellow left-turn arrow is available on INDOT’s web site at www.in.gov/indot/3202.htm.
