INDOT To Begin Work On SR 46; Lane Restrictions Start Thursday
SPENCER, Ind.—Indiana
Department of Transportation’s contractor for the $7,952,260 State Road 46 pavement
replacement project at Spencer plans to begin installing water lines Thursday (MAY
4), weather permitting. Installation
will progress west from Short Street to the west side of Vandalia Street, then back
to Short Street.
Excavation and
pipe placement require closure of S.R. 46’s right lane at work sites. Flaggers will direct motorists around crews
and equipment.
Excavations
will be backfilled with stone for ongoing maintenance of traffic. Asphalt paving will occur as sections are
completed.
Milestone, the
state’s prime contractor, is charged with full-depth pavement replacement of
S.R. 46 between Fairview Avenue on the east side and the S.R. 46-U.S. Highway
231/S.R. 67 split on the west side. Work
includes:
- New pavement
- Drainage improvements including new storm sewers
- New sanitary sewers
- New water main and laterals
- New sidewalks with curbs and defined driveway cuts
- ADA-compliant curb ramps
- New traffic signals at U.S. 231, Main Street and the
SR 46-SR 67 split
- Coordination with town’s ornamental street lighting
project.
