I-65 Traffic Shift to Start Tuesday Night in
Lake County
Crews to set up safety measures for upcoming
concrete patching project
The Indiana Department of Transportation
is alerting drivers of nighttime construction work on I-65. Crews plan to shift
traffic lanes Tuesday night in preparation of resuming a concrete patching
project, between U.S. 30 and I-80/94 (Construction work expected to begin April
24th). During this phase of the project, crews will close lanes to
place temporary, movable safety barrier walls that will remain during
construction.
I-65 will be reduced to two, 11 foot north and southbound lanes during the
nighttime operations (between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.) and three, 11 foot wide north
and southbound lanes during the daytime operations. (See illustration)
INDOT urges drivers to remember
that this is an active work zone and to slow down prior to entering the
construction area. Motorists should expect periodic delays and allow extra time
for trips through this area. Drivers should pay close attention to the signs in
the work zone, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and
equipment.
