Emergency Pothole Repair on I-80/94 in Portage and
Chesterton Area
Crews to repair potholes in two lanes at a time on Friday
The Indiana Department of Transportation
(INDOT) is alerting drivers of lane restrictions on I-80/94 between Central
Avenue in Portage and State Road 49 in Chesterton, Friday, April 6 between 8
a.m. and 2 p.m. (CST) Crews will close two lanes at a time to repair potholes
that have developed as a result of extreme temperature swings and an
accelerated freeze/thaw cycle.
During the project, I-80/94 will be
open to all through traffic, but restricted to one lane in some area of the
work zone. Motorists should expect periodic delays and allow extra time for
trips through this area. Drivers are urged to slow down, pay close
attention to the signs in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits and be on
the alert for workers and equipment.
