INDOT'S Week in Photos: 322 Indiana Cities, Towns, and Counties Received Approximately $160 Million for Local Road & Bridge Improvements Through Community Crossings

INDIANAPOLIS - Over the course of a week, Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb, Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson and staff from the Indiana Department of Transportation visited dozens of Indiana communities to personally congratulate them on receiving the State's Community Crossings matching grant funds for high priority local road and bridge projects.

In total, 1,632 applications were submitted to INDOT for review. 322 cities, towns, and counties received funding. When combined with local funds committed by communities, Community Crossings will result in a total infrastructure investment of more than $300 million statewide.

Monday - Lt. Governor Holcomb and Commissioner Hendrickson announced that 102 Central Indiana cities, towns, and counties received about $47 million in matching grant funds at a check presentation to the cities of Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, and Westfield. Staff from INDOT's West Central and East Central districts made visits to communities across the region to award funds.

Carmel

Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb talks about the State's strong commitment to infrastructure as Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard, Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear, Westfield Mayor Andy Cook, and Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness accept a combined $3.5 million in state matching funds for road projects.


Avon

West Central District Deputy Commissioner Alan Plunkett was joined by State Representative Greg Steuerwald to present a $1 million check for the Town of Avon, located in Hendricks County, to support an ongoing improvement project on Avon Avenue.


Fayette County

Staff from the Fayette County Highway Department accept an award from INDOT East Central staff for over $328,000 toward road improvements.


Montezuma

West Central District Deputy Commissioner Alan Plunkett presented the Town of Montezuma, in Parke County, with $126,000 for road projects.


Tuesday - Commissioner Hendrickson announced that $49 million in state matching funds would be awarded to 99 cities, towns, and counties in Southern Indiana at check presentations in Clark County and Evansville. Staff from INDOT's Southeast and Southwest districts hit the road to spread the good news in communities across the southern portion of the Hoosier state.

Clark County

State Senator Ron Grooms was on hand when Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson awarded Clark County Commissioners Jack Coffman, Rick Stephenson, and Bryan Glover $1 million for planned bridge projects.


Evansville

Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson presented Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke with more than $700,000 to support the City's planned improvements to East Riverside Drive.
