Estimated payments
While many taxpayers have enough state taxes withheld from their income throughout the year to cover their year-end total tax due, some make quarterly estimated payments to reduce the amount due when filing their income tax return. The final estimated tax payment installment for 2023 is due by Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
How to make a payment
The most secure and efficient way to make estimated tax payments is electronically via INTIME. A confirmation number will be provided immediately after the electronic payment has been made.
By signing in to INTIME, you’ll be able to:
- See your current balance due
- Make the final installment of your 2023 estimated tax payment, and
- View previous payments made.
The option to schedule estimated payments for the 2024 tax year is also available for those who want to be sure not to miss a deadline.
Once logged in to INTIME, on the default “Summary” tab under “Account,” choose “Make a payment,” and select your preferred payment method. Then follow the prompts.
To make the payment without logging in to INTIME:
- Under “Payments,” on the INTIME home page, choose “Make a payment”
- Under “Non-bill payments,” choose to make a payment through your bank (no fee) or credit card (fee)
- Follow the prompts
To make your final 2023 estimated tax payment, under “Payment type,” select “Estimated payment” from the drop-down menu. For “Period,” select “31-Dec-2023.” Then choose a date you would like your payment to be made and the amount.
To schedule estimated tax payments for 2024, follow the same steps, but select “31-Dec-2024” as your “Period” and choose future payment dates and amounts.
How to view your payment
To view all payment history, go to the “All Actions” tab, and under “Submissions,” choose “Search submissions.”
Payments that have been submitted but not yet processed can be viewed in the “Pending” tab. Past payments that have been completed or processed will appear in the “Processed” tab and listed by date.
You can view previous 2023 estimated payments on the “Summary” tab and then under “2023 Prepayments,” by choosing “View period activity.” Joint filers and their estimated tax payments can only be seen in the primary taxpayer’s INTIME account until the joint income tax return is filed.
