Aramark Awards Scholarships to

Six Rockville Correctional Facility Offenders

Rockville, Ind.
–  Scholarships awarded to six offenders at Rockville Correctional Facility will help them further their education after their release.

Melisa Hess, IN2WORK Region Program Manager for the Aramark Corporation was on hand at the Rockville Correctional Facility (RCF) on Monday to award scholarships to six offenders.  The six offenders, Precilla Aguilar, Andrea Botteron, Autumn Dunn, Jessica Figueiredo, Pamela Gardner, and Briana Holland will receive $1,000 each to use toward their future education expenses.

These offenders are amongst hundreds across all of Indiana’s prisons who take part in the IN2WORK Program.  It is an apprenticeship through the US Department of Labor and a joint initiative between the Aramark Corporation and the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC).  The program offers offenders the ability to gain skills in four critical areas, Kitchen Basics, Customer Service, Retail Basics, and Marketing.  After 12 to 18 months of work in the field, intensive study, and successful testing, the offender will graduate with the skills necessary for gainful employment upon release from incarceration.

The scholarships these offenders have earned will aid them in continuing their educations once they relocate back into our communities, and can be used in any field of study including but not limited to the culinary world.

Ms. Hess, while congratulating the scholarship recipients said, “You should each be proud of the hard work you’re doing and take pride in the fact that six of the 10 Statewide recipients of this award are represented in this room.  Continue your enthusiastic commitment toward improving yourselves and there’s no telling where that effort will lead you.”
