Renee Bodkin Awarded Special Olympics
of Indiana Honor
Pendleton, Ind. – Pendleton Correctional Facility’s very own Renee Bodkin was recently honored as the Special Olympics of Indiana Law Enforcement Torch Run Officer of the Year during the Special Olympics of Indiana (SOI) annual state conference and recognition luncheon.
During the last twelve years Renee has been involved with SOI raising donations by organizing the facility's participation in Cop-on-a-Rooftop, Strikes, Plane Pull and the Polar Plunge. Prior to Covid, Renee helped raise an average $3600 per year and over $7000 was raised in 2019.
Anyone who knows Renee understands she is a person who helps others and goes above and beyond to achieve any goal. Renee takes on the responsibility of being the facility’s SOI liaison in addition to her duties as the facility’s Policy Coordinator, American Correctional Association Coordinator, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Compliance Manager and CISM Team Member along with raising her own family.
“Although I was recognized by SOI, I am accepting this award on behalf of the facility. As a team leader I’ve been honored to work with many great staff and individuals who all wish to be part in helping others reach their potential and achieve their goals,” stated Renee.
